SYDNEY - The Sydney Croatian community and the Sydney United Football Club were saddened to hear the unfortunate news last week that promising young Australian Croatian footballer and Sydney United player Mark Tresoglavic passed away last Thursday (13th March) at the young age of 23.
Mark was the son of long-time United committee member, Miro Tresoglavic, and brother of United senior squad member, Stephen. Mark himself was a promising footballer until he was cut down by this dreadful disease in his prime.
Mark battled cancer courageously and his plight was recently featured on the popular Nine Network TV medical series RPA. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends at Sydney United FC and throughout the football family in Australia.
A minute's silence took place in memory of Mark prior to last Sunday's NSW Premier League game between Sydney United and the West Sydney Berries at the Sydney United Sports Centre, a game which saw Mark's beloved United run out 1-0 winners and jump to joint top spot on the ladder.
Young Mark's funeral was held at Our Lady Of Victories Church in Horsley Park on Wednesday.
