In response to last week's article from one of the 'Concerned Members of the Community' regarding HASK's last minute departure from MCSC (New Gen, June 8 2007, page 2), I would like to say I feel compelled to respond simply because of some of the inaccuracies mentioned in the article.
Firstly, thank you for you complimentary overview of the last 16 months, it's nice to be appreciated, and allow me to take the opportunity to thank HASK for their contributions as well.
The Pre-season Disco, the Triple Header, the Women's Cup, it was all positive and extremely entertaining and a huge factor in the success of the Croktoberfest. Domagoj Dedic and Vid Borovac could not have done it without your help.... and they are the first to say so.
However, if I can just correct a few things that aren't as true as the above.
Firstly the MKSC offer to re furbish the Batcave and that we at MCSC refused??? That's a damning comment without any substance, it was a pie in the sky comment with a price tag attached to it. What was the trade-off? Somethings are not for sale at MCSC and you - Concerned - should know that, because simply to be privy to that information you must be wearing two hats ie. HASK's and MK's. I'm sorry but you're wrong!
Furthermore, the comment that hurts most is the insinuation regarding HASK's 11th hour depature.
Dear 'Concerned', have you forgotten that we were in constant dialogue for the whole pre-season, and have you forgotten the water restrictions, which plagued us all, especially the Council grounds where Dinamo and our MK juniors are based at.
I clearly told the HASK committee that we were in between a rock and a hard place and that a decision could not be made until we knew exactly what was happening with our 1st sister club (Dinamo) and our juniors.
Have you forgotten that this year's season was in fact delayed because of the water crisis? And yet somehow you feel as though you are the only ones to have been treated harshly.
As it worked out Dinamo could play at their home ground Churchill Reserve, while our juniors couldn’t play at their ground so we had to squeeze them onto our fields at Somers Street.
You are not the only team that requested to play at MCSC. UNFORTUNATELY, everyone was refused (have a look at the current condition of grounds 2 and 3, it should be obvious as to why). Yet, it would seem, you boys are the only ones writing to the newspaper telling the whole community how you shall now be forced to drink elsewhere.
I'm deeply saddened.....
P.S. That room under the grandstand, that l personally pushed last year for you boys to use as an office/clubroom for the exclusive use of the HASK youth, is still sitting empty. Please let me know what you would like to do with that.
